Why has the oil level in our engine - perhaps we recently had a service - suddenly increased? Most likely, we have a diesel vehicle with a DPF filter, and if you frequently drive in the city, the issue is likely due to missed regenerations, which contaminate the oil. Because we drive in the city and make short trips that do not allow the DPF to regenerate, the post-injections remain in the combustion chamber, and the diesel retained in them gradually seeps into the sump, diluting the oil, which loses some of its lubricating properties.

Therefore, a diesel car is generally not suitable for someone who drives a lot in the city - and it shouldn't have been purchased in the first place - but now that the issue has occurred, we must pay close attention to maintenance and perform frequent oil changes.
