How do diesel engine glow plugs work?

In this video we see how the glow plugs of diesel engines work: in the final part of the component we have an electrode that reaches a temperature of 850/900°C, while in the final part we have the power wiring; the one in the video operates at 11 Volts, but there are others that operate at 4.5 Volts, depending on how the system is sized. A practical test is done with a 12 Volt battery, and in a couple of seconds the glow plug becomes incandescent; subsequently the starting takes place, with the injector spraying above the glow plug thus generating the explosion.
