How do you reset the onboard computer of a car after changing the battery?

Let's see how to reset the various control units after changing the battery; these lose power and forget the temporary settings they have learned. It is a temporary condition that includes irregular idle, inaccurate fuel consumption, clocks to reset. The procedure described is the standard one for modern cars: we connect the new battery, turn on the ignition and wait 10/15 minutes, then turn it off and wait a couple of minutes. Now we start the engine and let it idle for 5/10 minutes: the RPM may be high but should stabilize in the meantime, then we take a drive for at least 15/20 minutes including city and highway driving, to calibrate in all driving conditions. We will then have to adjust the clock, re-enter the stations on the radio (a unlock code may be required) on German cars it will be necessary to recalibrate the electric windows and also the sunroof.
