How the electronic traction control works, and when to disable it
Model: (Various brands) Various
Video tutorial
Common names for this device are: TCS (Traction Control System) or ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation). Its main purpose is to prevent wheel spin. The system uses ABS sensors to detect the rotation speed of each wheel. If a wheel slips, the system applies the brakes to that wheel; if braking is insufficient, the system automatically reduces engine power, even if the driver presses the accelerator harder. Everything happens automatically: the driver only sees the warning light on the dashboard. However, there is a deactivation button because there are situations where it is useful for the driven wheels to spin. For example, with chains fitted, as the chains need to slip to grip the ice; or for starting on deep snow; or in sand or mud, where spinning helps avoid getting stuck; or simply for sporty driving.

How to Activate the Disabled TRC on the Toyota Yaris?
As the video clearly shows, disabling or activating the traction control (TRC or ESP) on the Toyota Yaris is very simple. By default, the traction system activates every time the vehicle is started. To disable it, simply press the button depicting a skidding car located in the centre of the vehicle where the controls are, such as the hazard lights and the radio, but near the handbrake. Once disabled, the TRC off light will illuminate on the dashboard. To reactivate it, just press the same button again. by ScegliAuto More videos
