In terms of cost, it is clear that all-season tyres are better, as with a second set you need to buy two sets of tyres (and sometimes even the wheels); recurring costs for seasonal tyre changes should not be underestimated either. On the other hand, a second set also gives you double the tyre lifespan, but you must respect the seasonal changes and organise the swap twice a year. In summary, if you drive many miles, if safety is your absolute priority, and if you live in mountainous areas; a second set is more convenient in the long term. If you live along the coast or where winters are mild and drive few miles, all-season tyres are definitely the most practical and economical choice.
