Changing the car transmission oil? Here’s how to change the oil. Position your car on a column lift and raise it to a comfortable height for disassembly of the protection cover. To change the transmission oil, unscrew the metal cover that protects the transmission. Once the cover is removed, unscrew the drain bolt and let the fluid drain into a container. Refit the bolt on the transmission with the wrench, then refill the sump with the appropriate fluid from the engine bay. Start the vehicle and test the operation of the transmission.
