How do you change the battery in the car remote? Here’s how to replace the flat battery inside the plastic key fob. Take your remote key and, using a screwdriver, pry between the two parts of the plastic key cover. Once the cover is separated, remove the battery holder: open the battery holder and pull out the battery. Reassemble the plastic parts of your remote by pressing the key cover until you hear it click into place. Check that the remote key functions correctly. Replace the flat battery with one of the same voltage and size.
