Operation: How to adjust the valves of an engine

To be able to adjust the valves on a four-stroke engine, it is necessary to remove the engine head cover in order to access the rods and rocker arms. Identify cylinder 1 and consequently cylinder 4. Turn the camshaft with a 16 mm wrench until the position of the intake and exhaust valves of the fourth cylinder are "balanced", ie they have the same opening. Get a feeler gauge and check the clearance of the individual valves by loosening the nut located above the valve and positioning the feeler gauge between the top of the valve stem and the rocker arm. The clearance required between the valve and the rocker arm must be 0.15 mm for the intake valves and 0.20 mm for the exhaust valves. Once the correct thickness has been identified, tighten the nut and thus fix the correct clearance.
