Install budget rear parking sensors (any model)

In this video, you will learn how to install budget parking sensors that you can find on eBay, Amazon, etc. The video is filmed on a Vauxhall Astra but is applicable to any car model. All you need is a drill (preferably battery-operated), masking tape (the type used by body shops), and some care when removing the plastic covers. In the kit, you will find the control unit, four sensors, a monitor or a buzzer that indicates distance, a bipolar cable to connect to the reverse lights, and a hole saw bit for the drill. Start by laying the masking tape on the bumper, choosing positions that allow the sensor to remain horizontal to the road. Mark the tape where you will drill holes using the bit provided in the kit (remember to remove the material from the bit after each hole). Insert the sensors and remove the internal trim of the boot, which is usually clipped in. Look for passage holes that allow you to route the cables inside. Choose a location to mount the control unit and connect the sensors; I recommend behind the left headlamp (in the example video, it’s positioned on the right because the car is British!). Find a spot on the dashboard to place the monitor or buzzer, position it, and start routing the cable towards the control unit through the internal seals of the scuff plate or roof lining, and connect it to the connector. Using a multimeter, locate the reverse lamp wire and connect the red wire of the bipolar cable to it, then connect the black wire to the ground. Insert the connector and verify correct installation by engaging reverse; you should hear a confirmation beep.
