To open a car radiator cap, lift the bonnet to access the components inside the engine bay. Place a cloth over the cap and begin to unscrew it slowly. This step is necessary because the cap is under pressure, and opening it too quickly could cause it to pop off. Once the cap is loosened, you can remove it completely and top up the coolant. To close the cap, simply screw it back on clockwise.
