If your vehicle experiences hesitation during acceleration, the issue may be due to the lambda sensor, located on the exhaust before the catalyst, which checks the amount of oxygen present in the exhaust gases. This allows it to verify the air-fuel ratio: it informs the ECU, which in turn adjusts the correct air-fuel ratio. If the lambda sensor has issues, it will not only trigger the warning light but also cause problems during acceleration, as it no longer reads the oxygen level before the catalyst, incorrectly informing the ECU. There is also a lambda sensor after the catalyst, which checks that the catalyst is functioning correctly; if it is clogged or dirty, the yellow warning light will illuminate immediately.
