How NOT to Spill Oil During Oil Filter Change

When changing the oil, always have your basin ready to collect the used oil, which you must take to an authorised centre for proper disposal. However, changing the filter also causes oil to spill, so you must wait for all the oil to drain from the sump before changing the filter, or you need two basins. Here’s a simple trick to do both at the same time using just one basin. Get an empty water bottle. Make a hole in the cap large enough to insert the key that will unscrew the metal cap of the filter, and attach the bottle, cut in half with the holey cap, to the key. Now you can unscrew your filter, and the half bottle will be enough to collect all the used oil from the filter. Then, pour everything into the basin designated for the collection centre.

To check the oil level on a Jeep Renegade, you need to open the bonnet to access the components inside the engine bay: on the lower left side of the engine block, you will find the dipstick for checking the level.
