Difference Between Direct and Indirect TPMS

Since November 2014, every vehicle must have a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). These systems can be "indirect" when there is no physical device inside the wheel, estimating pressure from the ABS and ESP rolling measurements. This is the simplest system, which simply tells us that a tyre is flat, and it is up to us to determine which one and by how much. "Direct" systems, on the other hand, have a sensor directly connected to the valve, transmitting real-time pressure and temperature data to the control unit. This way, we can know exactly which tyre has the issue and how much the pressure has dropped.
