How to extract a broken key from the car lock?

It can happen, especially with older vehicles, that the key breaks while inside the door lock cylinder. The ideal solution in these cases is to consult a professional, but if you want to attempt a DIY extraction, gather a flat screwdriver, a piece of wire shaped like a hook, and a pair of pliers. Use the screwdriver to open the key slot cover, insert the wire, and try to hook the key. If successful (though it’s not guaranteed), attempt to pull it out while lowering all the pins in the cylinder. Once it is at least partially outside, grasp it with the pliers and pull it out completely.
