The function of the catalytic converter is to reduce emissions, but for it to work correctly, it must reach a certain temperature and be able to expel all combustion residues. If you mainly drive in urban conditions, the catalytic converter may become clogged to the point that it also fouls the lambda sensor, compromising its function and leading to increased fuel consumption. Before directly addressing the catalytic converter, you can use an additive to be mixed with the fuel, allowing the combustion process to help clean both the catalytic converter and the sensor.

How to Open the Bonnet on the Lancia Y
