The catalytic converter functions to trap and reduce emissions of pollutants generated by fuel combustion. Although the engine management ECU already has a control strategy for monitoring filter clogging, implementing so-called regenerations, it often happens that due to unburnt diesel and oil leaks, the filter clogs to the point of putting the engine into recovery mode. Therefore, you should try to clean the catalytic converter of these residues, and an effective method is to remove the catalytic converter and heat it with a torch until the residues inside ignite.
