In this video we see how to replace the battery of a Start & Stop car: There are two types of Start & Stop batteries: EFB (Enhanced Flood Battery) and AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat): we need to know which type has been installed on our vehicle. If our vehicle is equipped with an EFB, we can replace it with either an EFB or an AGM; The AGM has better performance but is more expensive. If our vehicle is equipped with an AGM, we can only replace it with another AGM. EFB batteries are suitable for vehicles with normal consumption, while AGM batteries are suitable for vehicles with higher consumption, mainly driven in the city and with energy recovery during braking: they have three times more charge than a conventional battery. By searching for the serial number of the battery on the Varta website, we can determine if it is an EFB or an AGM. On many recent German production brands, batteries have an intelligent sensor, and in these vehicles, new batteries can be registered with a diagnostic device, adapting them to the condition and age of the new battery. The production date is always indicated on the bottom of Varta batteries. The lifespan of a new battery is about five years.

How to Open the Bonnet on the Lancia Y
