This video explains what it means if we need to periodically add coolant to the designated reservoir in our car. The cooling system is a closed circuit, so the coolant level should always remain the same. It may vary between the minimum and maximum levels indicated on the reservoir, depending on the engine temperature when in operation; however, the quantity of coolant remains constant.

If we need to add coolant regularly, it indicates a problem, which could be one of three types: evaporation of the coolant itself, a leak in the system, or heavy usage, particularly in hot climates or under heavy loads, which can cause the coolant to evaporate.

It is always recommended to top up with coolant of the same colour as that in the reservoir.
