Reasons why the car immobilizer is not working

In this video we can see the main reasons why the immobilizer anti-theft system of our car is not working: the first reason is that the key chip is damaged; the signal that the key will send will be incorrect and the vehicle will not recognize it. In this case, we will have to remove the chip and check it. There are glass chips, ceramic chips, and other completely electronic chips, which may have gotten wet. There are specific equipment that can determine this last possibility. The immobilizer antenna may also have gotten wet. There is also a tester to detect this, although it is possible to make one at home using a LED and a small coil made of electrical wires; this same problem can also be caused by disconnected electrical wires. A third problem is the poor communication between the module cables and the immobilizer unit: it will be necessary to consult the immobilizer diagram in order to measure the continuity between the two modules and possibly repair the wiring. The fourth problem is the lack of power supply to the module, so the first thing to do is to check the fuse box. At number 5 is the damaged immobilizer module, which does not communicate with the system. If the cables, antenna, and key are in good condition, then surely the problem is the module.
