How to Dismantle a Front Shock Absorber on a VW Golf 6

Learn how to dismantle a front shock absorber on a VW Golf 6: loosen the wheel nuts, lift the car on a column lift or jack, and remove the wheel. Spray the shock absorber with penetrating oil, then use a screwdriver to unscrew the screws of the inner plastic wheel arch. Now unscrew the fastening pins of the oil pipes and the pin of the vertical arm. If the pin does not come out, use a hammer and penetrating oil to free it. Lower the lift and unscrew the pins on the side in the engine bay, then pull the shock absorber out of its housing, separating the spring from it. Insert the new shock absorber, after mounting it, place it back in its housing and first tighten all the upper pins in the engine bay, then secure the lower part.
