Let's start by specifying that we are talking about the knob of an automatic gearbox: detach the covering cuff from the base by releasing it, then lift it and access the small locking tie of the knob in question, unscrew it and if it resists, cut it with a portable grinder. At this point we also remove the support rod, replacing it as well, and with the reverse process we install the new components.
