Before we can begin, we will have to go and sit in the driver's seat of our Volkswagen Golf. So let's start by disengaging the lower base of the gear lever gaiter, and then lift it up. By doing so, we will have discovered the internal hook that secures the gear knob. We then proceed by going to unhook this hook, with the help of pliers. Once we have released the hook, we will be able to remove the cap and the gear knob, and we will have finished the disassembly. To mount the new gear knob and reassemble the headset, we will only have to follow these steps in reverse, and we will have finished the replacement.
