Before you start, sit in the driver's seat of your Volkswagen Golf. Begin by unclipping the lower base of the gear lever gaiter, then lift it. This will reveal the internal clip that secures the gear knob. Proceed to unclip this using pliers. Once you have unclipped it, you can remove the gaiter and the gear knob, completing the disassembly. To fit the new gear knob and reattach the gaiter, simply follow these steps in reverse, and you will have completed the replacement.
