How to search for and repair the fault that prevents the trunk from opening in a 2005 Volkswagen Golf

If the trunk does not open, do not worry. Check the remote control and the internal button: they may be empty or broken. Otherwise, the problem could be in the lock. Try to open the tailgate manually from the inside: remove the trunk panel and take a look at the mechanism. Sometimes, the wiring near the hinge wears out over time, interrupting the connections. Use a tester to check the wires. If everything seems fine, maybe the electric lock needs to be replaced. A new lock is easily installed and does not cost much. If you do not feel confident in performing these operations alone, contact an auto electrician.
