How do you program the remote control of a Volkswagen Jetta A4 without a scanner?

If you want to try programming a remote control without a scanner, you will have to do some manual work and arm yourself with a lot of patience. Remove the lock cylinder from the driver's door. Once removed, you will find a 4-digit code engraved or printed inside: that is the secret PIN of your control unit. With a second key, turn on the ignition and use the code to access the programming mode. After entering the code, press a button on the new remote to synchronize it. You should have done everything correctly. Reassemble everything and test the remote; if it does not work properly, contact an expert and ask for help.
