How to repair the leaking window seal on a Volkswagen T5/T6

Let's see how to repair the seal of a side window of a Volkswagen Caravelle: the original seal deteriorates after a rather short time, and according to Volkswagen the seal is not replaceable. However, there are aftermarket seals that we can find on the serial-Kombi website. There we can find exactly the shape we need for our vehicle. Usually, for a window, we need about two meters: we open the window halfway with the handle in the unlocked position; we insert the flat screwdriver into the front pins, where we need to press and turn, while in the rear with the double pin we will need to press harder; be careful not to lose the plastic pins. We remove the old seal, it doesn't matter if it breaks; in the lock area, it is glued with silicone. We clean the entire frame thoroughly, insert the new seal into the groove, using the screwdriver to push it well into the groove. In the area without a groove, cut the seal to the correct size (calculate +2 mm) and carve a groove in the seal: apply sealant on the plastic and on the end of the seal. Fix it for 15 minutes with adhesive tape, Align the sliders with the window, with the handle open, Insert the rear part first and then the front part, pushing gently. Close the window; if necessary, push the seal that tends to come out with a screwdriver, but the seal will still need a few days to settle.
