In order to replace the timing belt of the Volkswagen Golf 1.6 TDi, you will need to lift the car to ensure that the right front wheel is not in contact with the ground: once the wheel mounting bolts have been loosened, it will be possible to remove it and also remove the inner lining of the wheel arch. You can then loosen the central nut that secures the belt tensioner pulley to remove it and reduce the tension of the belt: in this way, it will be possible to completely remove it in order to insert the new one and verify that everything works.
