How to Replace the EGR Valve on a Volkswagen Touran

Model: Volkswagen Touran MK 1, 1T - Years 2003-2015

Today, we will show you how to independently replace the EGR valve on a Volkswagen Touran 1. Open the front bonnet and remove the engine cover; the EGR valve and the intake duct are located next to it. Disconnect the air inlet duct with pliers by gripping the tab and pulling outward. If necessary, pry the pin with a flat screwdriver; remove the solenoid valve using a 5mm Allen key to unscrew the three screws. After removing the screws, take out the valve using a small flat screwdriver. Remove the valve pipe and the screws that secure the air duct, using a 27 Torx key. After removing the duct, unscrew the two screws of the duct located under the valve with a 6mm Allen key. With the 5mm Allen key, unscrew the two screws that secure the valve to extract it. Clean the valve duct and fit the new gasket with the lower screw on the engine side. Insert the new valve and screw in the two lower screws with the 5mm Allen key and the two upper screws with the 6mm Allen key to fit the air duct. Connect the solenoid valve and the pipe that operates the EGR valve. Refit the air inlet duct by securing its pin. Refit the engine cover and close the bonnet.
