How to Reset the Volkswagen Infotainment System

To reset the Volkswagen infotainment system, start with a soft reset to avoid losing data: press and hold the power button for 10/20 seconds (until the screen turns off and then restarts). This works with MIB2/MIB3 systems. If the soft reset does not work, proceed to a hard reset: turn off the engine, open and close the door (to disable power), and wait for 15 minutes: the system enters "sleep" mode and restarts automatically. On ID3/ID4 models, there is a hidden button, so use a paperclip to access the reset button located under the screen. Alternatively, you can perform a complete reset (which will restore factory settings): Menu/Settings/System/Factory Reset. Confirm, and you will need to reconnect all services manually. If the problem persists, check for software updates or disconnect the battery for 10 minutes, but you will need to re-enter the radio code and reprogram the windows. Otherwise, contact a Volkswagen dealer.
