How to Check the Levels on a Volkswagen Golf V

Let's see how to check the levels on a Volkswagen Golf V; open the bonnet and start by checking the engine oil level: pull up the dipstick, remove it, clean it with a cloth, insert it again, then remove it and read the level, which should be between "min" and "max". If the level is low, add oil as per the manufacturer's specifications (the oil must be of good quality) by adding it through the filler cap, checking it often, as for no reason should the level rise above "max"; this is very dangerous. Check the coolant (when the engine is cold) and this should also be between the "min" and "max" marks on the semi-transparent expansion tank. The liquid you use to top up must be the same colour as that in the tank. Check the brake and clutch fluid, which should also be between the "min" and "max" marks on the transparent reservoir. Top up with DOT fluid as specified in the manual, being careful not to spill it on the paintwork (it is extremely corrosive). On the right side of the engine bay, you have the windscreen washer fluid reservoir: add a mixture of demineralised water and screen wash additive. You can now close the bonnet.
