Learn how to diagnose and repair the air conditioning on a Volkswagen Golf VI: unfortunately, air conditioning problems are quite common on this model. The most frequent cause is a lack of gas in the system: refrigerant loss occurs slowly through old seals or pipes. The second reason could be a faulty compressor. You may hear a metallic noise or squeaking from the bonnet; the A/C operates intermittently. A third possibility is a defective pressure sensor: the A/C does not work, the engine light is on, and diagnostics reveal error 00819. It could also be the flaps' motors stuck; or the cabin fan blocked (no air comes from the vents). The climatronic control unit may be faulty: the A/C light comes on, but the compressor does not receive a signal.
