How to Change the Gear Gaiter and Gear Knob on a Volkswagen Golf

To replace the gear gaiter and gear knob on a Volkswagen Golf IV, grasp the gaiter frame at the base of the lever and lift it to detach it from the centre console. Pull the gaiter up along the gear lever until you reach the knob. Locate the clip or fastener that secures the knob to the lever and remove it with a suitable tool. Then pull the knob upwards to detach it from the gear lever along with the gaiter. Fit the new gaiter onto the lever and attach the new knob, ensuring it is oriented correctly. Secure the knob with the new clip or locking system provided in the kit. Finally, reattach the gaiter frame to the centre console by pressing along the perimeter until fully secured.
