Replacing the Timing Belt on a VW Golf

Model: Volkswagen Golf Golf IV, MK 4, Golf 4 - Years 1997-2003

Removing the timing belt at the intervals specified by the manufacturer for your car, in this case, VW Golf. Lift the front bonnet and secure it with the prop rod. Remove the plastic soundproofing panel, disconnect the power wiring with pliers. Lift the car with a column lift to access the underside. Using various spanners (or socket wrenches), unscrew the tensioner roller and slide the belt off its seat. With a socket wrench, unscrew the tensioning pin of the tensioner roller, and remove the water pump. Fit the new water pump, the tensioner, and belt, and tighten all screws with the socket wrench. Refit the engine cover panel of the Golf.
