How to open the front bonnet of a Volkswagen Jetta? Open the door and release the bonnet release lever. Lift the bonnet upwards and secure it with the prop rod or gas strut. Now that the engine bay is open, you can perform your maintenance or remove parts. Ensure the operation of the lever and the hook of the front bonnet (remove the hook if it is damaged). To close the bonnet, remove the safety prop and let the bonnet drop down from a minimal height. Ensure the bonnet is properly closed.
