Dismantling the Front Door Panel

Model: Volkswagen Jetta A4, MK 4 - Years 1998-2005
Part: Door trim panel

Using a small flat screwdriver, first unclip the inner cover of the handle grip; similarly, unclip the entire handle complete with window switch and disconnect the connector attached to it; then unscrew the star-headed screws located just behind the handle and the Torx screws found along the edge of the panel. At this point, using a slightly larger flat screwdriver, lever out the pressure clips securing the panel and pull it upwards to detach it from the window seal; finally, disconnect the cable connected to the internal opening handle. Proceed in reverse for reassembly.
