Removing the Lock on Volkswagen Golf 5

Model: Volkswagen Golf MK 5, Golf 5, Golf V - Years 2003-2008
Part: Door lock

Open the affected door and remove the side cover as shown in the video. This allows you to also remove the round cover related to the lock bolt. Unscrew this bolt and you can then extract the lock cylinder, possibly using a plastic wedge for assistance. At this point, you can also remove the external handle, then unscrew all the screws located underneath and to the side of the door and pull off the outer panel. Remove the lock mechanism as shown in the video, then disconnect the cable and proceed in reverse for reassembly. Good luck!
