How do you dismantle the key fob of the Golf 4? Here’s how to open the key fob and change the damaged battery. Take your key fob and press the release button to extract the metal key. Once removed, use a screwdriver to pry between the two parts of the key cover. Pry until the two parts of the key separate: separate the plastic sections where the battery fits. Remove the flat battery with a screwdriver and take a new one of the same size and voltage. Reassemble the two parts of the cover with the buttons by pressing on the key fob until you hear the locking click.
