How to Remove the External Wing Mirror from a Volkswagen Golf Mk4

This guide shows how to remove the external wing mirror from a Volkswagen Golf Mk4. The first step is to remove the trim plastic from the handle to expose two fastening screws that need to be unscrewed. On the door side with the hinge, it is necessary to unscrew one screw; you also need to unscrew the three Torx screws located at the bottom of the inner panel. At this point, using a trim removal tool, detach the clips securing the inner door panel; it is not necessary to disconnect the panel connections. Remove the fastening screw for the speaker housing and move the insulating foam protecting the mirror bolt. Using a Torx T30 screwdriver, unscrew the mirror fastening bolt; disconnect the electrical cable from the mirror and remove the old part. Reassemble the parts removed so far and check the proper functioning of the replaced part.
