Replacing the Gear Knob on a Volkswagen Golf

In the case shown in the video, with the broken gear knob, insert a plastic lever under the base of the gear itself, then lift it and remove it from its seat. This way, you will have simultaneously disassembled the knob, gaiter, and base of the lever. Therefore, when you go to purchase the new gear knob, buy the entire assembly again. Follow the operations shown in the video which aim, if necessary, to adapt the gaiter + base assembly to the vehicle. If it is exactly the same, simply proceed to insert the knob onto the lever and the gaiter into the base of the vehicle.
