First, obtain a CR2032 battery, which is readily available. Once you have the new battery, open the "blade" of the key. After opening the "blade", gently pull the cover off the key, which is located on the back under the Volkswagen logo. Now that you have access to the key battery, apply slight pressure with your finger to remove it. Replace the battery and reattach the key cover by pressing gently until you hear a click, indicating that the replacement was successful.
