Replacing the Tailgate Lock on the Volkswagen Golf

If you need to replace the tailgate lock on this vehicle, you can find general instructions in this video and in this description. First, open the tailgate and remove the internal plastic trim panel, which is secured with screws. Then, using a socket spanner, remove the bolts securing the lock located immediately beside it, allowing you to extract the lock assembly after disconnecting the electrical connector behind it. Take the new lock, position it in the housing, and reattach the securing bolts. Finally, reassemble the entire internal trim.
