To remove the tailgate lock on the Volkswagen E-Golf, open the tailgate so you can detach the panel inside it: by unscrewing the appropriate bolts, the tailgate can be freed from its panel, giving access to the underlying components. The lock actuator located at the base of the tailgate can be released from its securing bolts and connectors: once the old actuator is removed, insert the new one, securing and connecting it properly, then cover everything with the panel.
