Replacing the Front Wheel Hub Bearing

Model: Volkswagen Passat 3BG, B5 - Years 1996-2005

To replace the front wheel hub bearing, you need to remove the hub itself; start by lifting the vehicle on a lift and removing the front wheel from the side where the replacement will take place; then remove the brake caliper with its bracket and hang it from the shock absorber; next, remove the brake disc, disconnect the speed sensor wiring and the relevant connectors; detach the lower control arm ball joint from the hub using a fork puller; move on to the steering rack tie rod end and the upper control arm ball joint; once the hub with its bracket is free, extract it by striking it from behind with a socket. At this point, use a press to remove the old bearing and insert the new one, proceeding in reverse for the installation on the vehicle.
