- Years 2008-2012 This video shows how to reset the oil change indicator light on a Volkswagen Golf 6. The procedure is very simple and takes less than a minute to complete. It is recommended to perform this procedure only after replacing the oil if the indicator light remains on. To reset the indicator light, insert the key without starting the engine, then press and hold the button located on the right side of the instrument panel. While holding the button, start the engine. Once the engine has started, release the button and press the button located on the left side of the instrument panel once. Finally, turn off and restart the instrument panel.
