To reset the automatic gearbox on Volkswagen vehicles, move the gear selector to position P and engage the handbrake. From this position, press the accelerator pedal for about forty seconds. Then, turn on the dashboard and wait a few more seconds; now turn off the dashboard and hold the pedal down for about ten seconds. Releasing the pedal allows you to lock the car and then unlock it with the remote: this way, you can check that the automatic gearbox has been reset.
