Replacing the key battery on a Volkswagen Golf is a straightforward task you can do yourself, aided by our brief video tutorial. Start by removing the metal key and inserting a flat-head screwdriver into the centre of the remote to detach the lower part.

Continue by inserting the screwdriver at the side to open the section where the battery is located. Remove the old battery and insert a new CR2032. Finish by closing the remote and reconnecting the two halves.
