How to Replace the Shock Absorber on a Volkswagen Golf

Model: Volkswagen Golf Golf III, MK 3, Golf 3 - Years 1991-1997

First, remove the wheel on the side where the replacement is needed. Lift your vehicle and position it on suitable jack stands. You do not need to remove the disc or brake pads; simply unscrew the bolt shown in the video that secures the brake line to the shock absorber strut. Next, unscrew the bolts that attach the suspension to the wheel hub. Work on the upper part of the suspension by unscrewing the nut that secures the top of the shock absorber. Now you can extract it from the bottom near the brake.
