To replace the fuel filler flap on a Volkswagen Golf, you will also need to replace the entire actuator mechanism: to do this, open the flap and use a tool to lever off the retaining clips located inside, around the cap. Once the internal cover of the flap has been removed, you can disconnect the underlying connector so that the new replacement part can be connected; after installation, secure it with the appropriate screws and check that everything is functioning.
