If the cigarette lighter socket in your Volkswagen Golf has suddenly stopped working, the first thing to do is check the status of the relevant fuse, whose location is indicated in this video. As shown, the fuse is located in the box inside the cabin, specifically in the lower left area of the dashboard.

It is labelled F40 and is 20A. If it is faulty, ensure you use a replacement with equivalent specifications and always work with the vehicle turned off, otherwise, you may damage the socket.
