Why is the cigarette lighter socket of the Volkswagen Golf not working anymore?

If the cigarette lighter socket of our Volkswagen Golf has suddenly stopped working, the first thing we can do is check the status of the corresponding fuse, whose location is indicated in this video. As shown, the fuse in question is located in the box inside the passenger compartment, specifically in the lower left area of the dashboard. It is labeled with the code F40 and is 20A. If it is faulty, make sure to use a replacement with equivalent specifications and always operate with the vehicle turned off, otherwise we could damage the socket itself.
