How to replace the timing belt on a Volvo XC60. Open the hood and secure it with the prop rod (if available). Remove the engine soundproofing panel and the air intake kit (if you have space issues). Disconnect the power wiring with pliers. Lift the vehicle with a column lift to access the underside (if necessary). Use a wrench to loosen the tensioner pulley and slide the belt off. Using a socket wrench, remove the tensioner pulley bolt and take out the water pump. Install the new water pump, the tensioner, and the belt, and tighten everything with the socket wrench.
