Replacing Hood Lift Supports

Model: Volvo Xc90 MK 1 - Years 2002-2014

To replace the lift supports, you need to remove the plastic covers near the mounting screws. For this operation, insert a screwdriver into the designated slot and pry carefully to avoid injury. Support the hood or have someone help you, and forcefully remove the piston from the retaining pin. The piston is simply lodged in a hemisphere. Remove it from both sides. Install the new piston by simply inserting both ends into the hemisphere. Reattach the clips and covers both underneath and on top. Test the perfect operation by closing the hood.
